God's people went into spiritual captivity since ~ 1945: Daniel 11:30,32 (WW2, human sacrifices to Moloch [false king] since then is an empiric proof of that)
"the king of the north" is Babylon [Anglo Empire] that hurl denunciations since WW2 more or less. Denunciations from Babylon Empire in order to exile God's people, using an image of Beast, Organization [UN], that is: King of North agent(s) in the Temple of The God (2 Thess 2:1-12, compare with Daniel 11:36-39)
