This is my answers to a blog owner who condones the disfellowship/disassociation practiced among JWs. (As usual, he deletes my comments in his site)
Regarding family disruption you are really seeing from the wrong standpoint.
Jesus did not say that his followers would for some reason voluntarily stop associating with members of their families.
It is the other way around:
What Jesus really meant was that his followers would be victims/target of discrimination / expulsion / ostracism by members of their own families.
John 9:22
His parents said these things because they were in fear of the Jews, for the Jews had already come to an agreement that, if anyone confessed him as Christ, he should get expelled from the synagogue.
John 16:2 Men will expel you from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he has offered a sacred service to God.
Luke 6:27 But I say to you who are listening: Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you, 28 to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you.”
Do you really expel someone you love???
31 “Also, just as you want men to do to you, do the same way to them.
32 “If you love those loving you, of what credit is it to you? For even the sinners love those loving them.+ 33 And if you do good to those doing good to you, of what credit is it to you? Even the sinners do the same
Russia is doing to JW as JWs are doing to members of their family.
35 On the contrary, continue to love your enemies and TO DO GOOD and to lend without hoping for anything back;
Disassociation: Would it really be "to do good"?
Are JWs really without hoping for anything back?
